Runecrafting
Runecrafting allows players to create runes from rune slates (acquired through mining) and essences. These runes are required for enchanting.

Levels
Every 20 effective levels will allow you to craft an additional rune at no cost, which also adds 25 experience gained per craft. These extra runes will also give additional experience and additional cosmic essence.
Intuition and Scholar (after level 99) can reduce the actions needed to reach the next breakpoint.

Runes/Essence
To start runecrafting, players must first gather essence by doing various activities. A single Rune Slate and 400 essence is used for each runecrafting action. Used Essence can be reduced with the runecrafting enchantment but a minimum of 400 is required to start crafting.
Crafting runes always provides 25 runecrafting experience for each rune crafted.

Talisman
Once a talisman is consumed, an additional four essence will be gathered for that specific type. Each talisman of the same type consumed after the first will grant a random, large amount of essence of that type.
Talismans are uncommon items obtained when opening chests, geodes, bird's nests, sunken treasures, and satchels.
All giants from Corrupted Lands, Valley of Giants and Chaos Wastes has a chance to drop Talismans.
Ice Giant will drop a water talisman.
Fire Giant will drop a fire talisman.
Moss Giant will drop a nature talisman.
Bone Giant will drop a blood talisman.
Chaos Giants will drop a chaos talisman.
