Scholar destroys items gained from non-combat actions for 20% more experience. This only affects mastery experience.

Uses

Scholar is commonly used with Wealth as both gold and experience is gained from the destroyed item.

Experience is only multiplied when there is an experience gaining event so extra items from other enchantments are destroyed without any experience.

Experience gained from Intuition is additive. Eg. 120% Scholar + 20% Intuition is 140% more experience.

A common mistake players make is when forgetting to remove scholar and wealth when scrollcrafting.
